Arvato Systems relaunches DMG MORI website
DMG MORI is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of cutting machine tools. The product range includes lathes and
milling machines, advanced technologies as well as automation and technology solutions. The application-based control and
operating environment CELOS as well as exclusive technology cycles and power tools from DMG MORI actively shape
Industry 4.0. With over 12,000 employees at 157 sales and service locations worldwide – including 14 production facilities – the
group supplies customers in 79 countries.
In order to present DMG MORI‘s new corporate design (CD) online in the best possible way, the group needed a new
website, a powerful content management system (CMS) and a digital expert to make the CD suitable for the web.
Due to increased editorial requirements and sometimes very demanding processes, the previous CMS CoreMedia 7 was no longer efficient enough as it was timeconsuming to create, publish, and maintain new pages. Furthermore, it was not
possible to play out the content optimally in terms of resolution and display of different devices.
DMG MORI wanted an intuitively operable CMS that simplified the use of the website for editors and visitors: editors should be able to manage and publish content easily, while users should be able to navigate intuitively through the website and find the
content they are looking for more quickly – independent of the end device.
The fully transparent, trusting cooperation was the key factor for the success of the website project.Daniel Piegsa, Head of Digital Marketing at DMG MORI
The solution was found in CoreMedia 8 and Arvato Systems. The IT service provider demonstrated its expertise through offering all services from a single source and further convinced DMG MORI with its creative approach, concept, and suggestions
for the implementation of the new CD. Nevertheless, the project was hard work due to a tight deadline. The responsive website had to be online in time for EMO 2017, the leading trade fair in machine tool manufacturing. That is why the entire project
– including conception, design adaptation, implementation, and rollout – had to be completed in less than eight months.
Arvato Systems designed the new CMS according to the individual requirements of DMG MORI. On the basis of agile methods and in cooperation with the DMG MORI project team, the IT service provider set up an optimal solution in record time. In
short sprints, Arvato Systems adapted the front end to meet the requirements and – in close consultation with the customer – implemented small-scale changes quickly and easily, both in terms of design and functionality. In addition to templates for
product detail pages, important new features include micro-applications such as the machine selector and the CNC scout: Visitors can use the machine selector to search through the product range ac-cording to specific criteria, while the CNC Scout portal enables them to request used machines directly. Usability has improved significantly with both micro-applications.
CoreMedia 8 offers an intuitive, multilingual CMS that offers visitors an optimal website experience and increases the efficiency of the editors.
What used to be very time-consuming can now be achieved in just a few minutes. Thanks to defined templates, new product detail pages can be created quickly and easily.
